The relentless pace of leadership often masks the early warning signs of burnout. Therapy offers a dedicated space to pay attention to how you’re doing and explore what changes you can make to both prevent further depletion and heal if you’re already wiped out. Our work together will identify the patterns wearing you down and build sustainable habits that protect your time and energy.
San Diego Therapy for Executives, Business Owners, & Entrepreneurs
It's not just about the business, it's about you.
WHERE ARE YOU NOW?
The weight of leading a company doesn’t disappear when you clock out. Even the most successful executives and entrepreneurs can feel overwhelmed and depleted by the responsibilities and pressures that come with business ownership. And “type A” folks also have to balance matters outside of work: family, friends, faith, self-care, isolation, fatigue, and so much more.
At Pathways Family Therapy, our San Diego executive therapists are here to support you and provide you with the tools you need to thrive both personally and professionally.

Regardless of your industry or specific role, we’re here to meet you with expertise, clarity, and compassion.
Meet our San Diego therapists for business owners & executives
Breanne Dargon
Hi, I’m Breanne, one of the co-founders of Pathways Family Therapy. Before launching this practice, I spent 15 years at a long-term residential treatment center, working my way from individual therapist to Lead Clinician of Family Services, Clinical Supervisor, and ultimately Clinical Director. Building and leading a practice means I know firsthand the joys and challenges of business ownership, which shapes how I show up for the executives, founders, and high-achieving professionals I work with.
The leaders I see are often high-functioning on the outside, yet inside, they’re struggling. Our work together explores how the context of your relationships and environment impacts your well-being and what adjustments we can make so you feel more fulfilled and connected. This process helps you find fulfillment in your personal life without having to sacrifice what you’ve built professionally.

Jeff Williams
Hi, I’m Jeff, co-founder of Pathways Family Therapy. I’ve had great success working with high-demand, high-net-worth individuals who are looking for greater clarity, a healthier balance between ambition, personal health, and family relationships, and a coaching arrangement that offers therapeutic input within the context of an executive lifestyle.
My approach is warm, direct, and collaborative, with a willingness to say the tough things. I’ve spent over 20 years working in the mental health field, holding supervisory and directorial roles before building Pathways. This includes 3 years of advanced training in Structural Family Therapy, which helped me develop a necessary understanding of roles and functions within complex systems—whether in families, organizations, or leadership structures—and how the roles we occupy deeply influence our emotional health, relationships, and success outcomes.
Many of my clients are navigating consequential business decisions, strained relationships, burnout, addiction, or the realization that success has come at too high a personal cost. My role is to help you recognize baseline values, prioritize demands, identify changes that respect the complexities of your life, and provide accountability throughout the process. Whether you’re at a personal breaking point, your relationships are at a breaking point, or you’re tired of business demands taking up more than their fair share, let’s work on creating a more effective, sustainable, and fulfilling life.

How therapy can help business owners & executives
Strengthen your relationships at home
Long hours, an intense mental load, and decision fatigue can impact your ability to be truly present with your loved ones. It may also be tough to shift to a more collaborative approach at home. Therapy gives you the opportunity to get in tune with your relational needs, explore which adjustments will lead to meaningful impacts, and learn practical tools for communication and conflict resolution.
Lead with greater clarity & confidence
The choices you make affect employees, families, and futures. Therapy can help you get clear on your values—personal and professional—which can help you stay grounded when you’re faced with difficult decisions, at work and at home.
Process the loneliness of leadership
You can’t always tell your team—or even your spouse—what’s going on behind the scenes of your business. Therapy is a confidential space where you don’t have to perform, manage, or protect anyone. Being able to speak openly about the realities of your role often brings a level of relief that many entrepreneurs are surprised by.
What to expect from the therapy process
1. Schedule a free consultation
Book a brief, no-pressure call so we can hear what’s bringing you in and answer your questions about working together. We’ll also help you determine which of our therapists is the right fit for your goals.
2. Attend your first session
We’ll take a thorough look at your work, relationships, family history, and goals. By the end of the session, you’ll have a clear sense of how this process can benefit you and a working picture of what your treatment may look like going forward.
3. Build sustainable change over time
Most executive clients meet weekly or bi-weekly to keep momentum. As you begin to build insight and make meaningful changes, we’ll adjust our frequency to fit your evolving needs and goals.
FAQs about therapy for entrepreneurs
Is it normal to struggle with mental health as an executive or business owner?
Absolutely. The very traits that make you successful (like your drive, perfectionism, and hyper-responsibility) also make you vulnerable to anxiety, isolation, and burnout. Most leaders we see are high-functioning on the outside while quietly struggling underneath. While it can be difficult to reach out for support, know that you’ll be met here without judgment.
What makes your practice particularly qualified to support business owners?
We bring decades of combined experience treating high-acuity, high-complexity clients, from long-term residential settings to private practice, so we have a versatile toolkit to support the unique needs of executives. Plus, as business owners ourselves, we offer a lived understanding of the pressures of entrepreneurship that many of our clients in high-pressure careers find invaluable.
How do you protect my privacy as an executive?
Confidentiality is foundational to therapy and protected by law. We’re also bound by strict ethical codes to protect your privacy. Additionally, because we don’t bill insurance directly, no diagnoses or session notes are shared with third-party payers without your explicit direction.
What if I don't have time for therapy? Is it really worth it?
While it can be a challenge to carve out time for yourself amidst a busy work schedule, most clients tell us therapy gives back more than it takes. One focused hour a week often pays dividends across every area of your life.
Can I pay for therapy with my business account?
Therapy is generally treated as a personal medical expense rather than a business deduction, so we’d recommend speaking with your CPA about what’s appropriate for your situation. We provide monthly superbills for clients who are interested in using their out-of-network benefits, and we also accept HSA and FSA payments. Our team is happy to walk through billing questions during your consultation.
It only takes 2 minutes to get started on a lifetime of change!
*Pathways is a private-pay, non-insurance-based practice.
