If you are experiencing mood fluctuations, addiction, panic attacks, abnormal behavior, or regular disruption to your health, routines, or relationships, it’s worth discussing with your medical doctor and a mental health therapist. For those not experiencing such acute symptoms, therapy is often used to deepen self-understanding, clarify priorities, break unwanted patterns, or maximize various life experiences.

We typically meet with individuals 5 years and older (all the way up to folks in their 80’s and beyond). Family therapy can include all ages.

The majority of your first session is devoted to gathering information about your goals, background, and context. It’s also a time for you to ask questions and determine whether your therapist is a good fit for the journey ahead. Most people use the first few sessions to gage trustworthiness, caring, and competence. We encourage folks to listen to their intuition…. find someone you are comfortable with! If it’s not us, we are more than happy to offer referrals to other qualified therapists in the area.

It all depends on your needs and your preference. Insight-oriented therapy that focuses on a single behavioral phenomenon, can be short term, 3-6 months. Sometimes therapy lasts longer, as long-term patterns or trauma experience often take time to unravel and adapt. Sessions may shift from weekly to biweekly to monthly to “as needed” as you experience greater progress and relief.
